Charlatans
The Charlatans Glasgow Barrowlands Gill Curran was the lucky winner of Session in Scotland's competition for tickets to the Charlatan's gig and she even got to meet them backstage after the show. Was she impressed? Read on MacDuff . |
Thrilled
to be there, we waited with the rest of the eager crowd for the return
of the Charlatans to Glasgow Barrowlands. And with a blast of dry ice, a
bellowing Hammond introduction and an old familiar swagger, the band
exploded into 'Forever', the new single from 'Us and Only Us'. The crowd
cascaded forward and an evening with one of Britain's top bands began.
Tim Burgess crooned his way through tunes from all of the band's albums
with certain gems such as 'Just Lookin'' and 'One to Another' sending
the crowd even further into an already "Lovin' it" atmosphere.
After two encores the band ended an excellent gig with that old chestnut
'Sproston Green' sending everyone home thoroughly satisfied.Backstage, the soul dance kid himself disappeared, the
newly wed bliss is obviously taking its toll. The rest of the band were
in top form entertaining all the liggers and as the Stella flowed, Mark
Collins considered the merits of doing a moonwalk in gripped trainers
followed by a practical demonstration in which we all joined in. Nice
one Mark! After a calamity photo shoot the evening ended with big hugs
and cheerios. Good Show, Good Night, Great Band!
